Panoramic (glass) elevators are chosen where the ride itself should be part of the experience: shopping centres, bank and office lobbies, airports, hotels and tourist attractions. Besides moving people, a glass cabin becomes an architectural feature of the building, draws visitors' attention and feels far less enclosed than a standard lift.
What should you consider when choosing a panoramic elevator?
First decide where it will run — on the facade, inside an atrium or in a glazed shaft — because that shapes the cabin design, the glass specification and how much sun and weather the cabin is exposed to. Our standard observation model has a round glass cabin, carries 800–1,600 kg at 1.0–2.0 m/s and uses a VVVF drive for smooth travel.
Are panoramic elevators safe?
Yes. The equipment we supply carries ISO, CE, CU-TR, TÜV and BUREAU certification, and WestLift installs to the EN 81-20/50 safety standards. Like every elevator we hand over, a panoramic lift is load-tested and its safety systems are checked and documented before it opens to passengers.
Panoramic or standard passenger elevator?
If the lift mainly has to move people efficiently, a passenger elevator is the simpler choice. A panoramic model makes sense when the view, the building's image or drawing in visitors matters — in retail, hospitality and tourism. Keep in mind that glass surfaces need regular cleaning as part of the building's upkeep.
