Where are freight elevators used?
Freight elevators move goods, equipment and materials wherever stairs or a passenger lift are not enough — in warehouses and logistics centres, shops and supermarkets, hotel and restaurant back-of-house areas, production facilities and residential buildings under construction. The right model depends on what you carry, how often, and whether the cargo travels with or without an operator.
What should you consider when choosing a freight elevator?
Start with the heaviest typical load and the size of the largest item: our freight elevators are available from 1,000 to 5,000 kg, with the cabin built to your dimensions. Then look at how the cabin will be loaded — by hand, trolley or pallet truck — the number of stops, the space available for the shaft and machine room, and the building's power supply (110 V to 380 V).
Which drive type suits a freight elevator?
We install hydraulic, geared and traction freight elevators, with or without a machine room. The right choice depends on the building height, the space available for a machine room and the load, so we recommend a drive type after surveying the site. All models are controlled by a VVVF drive for smooth starts and stops.
Freight elevator or construction hoist?
For high-rise construction, or where a building needs a heavy-duty goods-and-passenger lift running on an external mast, a rack-and-pinion construction hoist is often the better choice. The EMKO EMK 450 we supply carries 2,000 kg at up to 54 m/min and reaches heights of up to 200 m.

What load capacity do your freight elevators have?
Freight elevators are rated from 1000 to 5000 kg at 0.5 m/s, with an AC drive and VVVF control. The cabin is customized to your cargo dimensions.
Do your freight elevators meet European safety standards?
Every WestLift installation conforms to EN 81-20 and EN 81-50, the European safety standards for the construction and installation of lifts, and is inspected by independent technical supervision before commissioning.
Can a freight elevator also carry people?
Depending on the specification, a freight elevator runs with or without accompanying personnel. For high-rise and construction projects we also install 2000 kg EMKO freight/passenger hoists — for example at Tower Group in Batumi (140 m) and Alliance in Tbilisi.
What power supply does a freight elevator need?
Supply voltage options are 110 V, 220 V, 240 V or 380 V. We confirm the power requirements during the free site survey.
